Unbreakable by Sandramalie Unbreakable by Sandramalie
Our dearest Sansa <3 The criticism of the events in Sansa's life in the show lately is not fair I think. A lot of the critics claim that the show wants to portray women as "weak" (which of course isn't true, just look at some of the characters..), however - women are not "weak" because they are raped. And those who criticize the show for making Sansa "weak" should take a look at themselves. A lot of them claim to be feminists, however they accuse Sansa of being weak because of the rape/ abuse :O Not she, nor any woman, are WEAK just because they have been raped. So shut up, critics, and be patient - Sansa will have her revenge - I'm sure! Also: Game of Thrones is so emotional, yet good, these days. Just mindblowing.

This is my last uploaded work for about 3 weeks, as I leave for Thailand tomorrow :) I hope you all have a wonderful summer, and I'll be back in no time ;D

I think Sansa is far stronger than many women in the show. Arya in her place would have been killed in the Red Keep long time ago. Sansa is a survivor, not a victim. She grew out of being a summer child and became a winter woman. (I really hoped she'd at least castrate Ramsay, but well, she's a lady :giggle: and lady keeps her hands clean).

Beautiful portrait!

And I completely agree with you! Especially since viewers seem to forget about another character who was in a VERY similar position at the beginning of the show [Daenerys], and look how far she's come! I have complete and utter faith in Sansa, because she's stronger than anyone seems to realize.

Absolutely true! People probably cared more now because they know and love the characters, and that's fine! It's good that people feel bad when watching it, they shouldn't feel good! But they also shouldn't yell at the producers and swear to never watch the show again. Because rape happens, it did back then (Middle Ages), and it does now. So just stop degrading Sansa as "weak" because of it, and just take it as it is! A realistic depiction of what might happen in such a situation, and wait to see how Sansa will grow (and hopefully get her revenge:) )

Yeah! Expecting a show that is trying to be as true to that period of time as possible to gloss over the darker stuff is just... Well, to be honest.. if they did that, would Game Of Thrones REALLY have gotten as big as it has? Underneath all of the anger people feel at the show, I hope they realize on some level that it's actually respectful to show EVERYTHING and be as realistic as possible, no matter how.. sensitive it may be. I agree, rape happened then, and it happens now. Hopefully the sour taste it leaves in someone's mouth to see it happen to a character they like on the show will encourage more people to fight it in the real world :/ Whispering and skirting around things like rape is only going to ensure that it continues to happen; we need to be LOUD about it >.<

I mean, don't get me wrong, I was upset that Sansa was raped, and what happened to Shireen and the like, but I GET it, you know? It's like, realistically, if you put Sansa in a situation where she's about to be married off to a complete psychopath, living inside of what's now an enemy fortress with a deadly winter coming, she's only going to have SO MANY OPTIONS; what happened to her was terrible, but to be honest, it would have been TOO nuh-uh if someone had just swooped in and saved her in the nick of time.

Oh, me, too! Sansa WAS weak when the show started, [understandable, given her background] but she's come so far and grown so much, that now that something bad happened to her again, people undermining all of that by saying that she's weak because of it is just insulting. Acting like, if they were in that situation, they wouldn't have made the EXACT same choice. I think that Sansa realized that it was a do-or-die situation, and she decided that living to fight another day was going to get her farther than trying to resist. [because I think it's pretty clear that, had she refused, Ramsay would have at LEAST mutilated her, psychopath that he is -_-]

One of the best things about the show, in my opinion, is the fact that no character is absolutely SAFE. There are a lot of shows out there that deal with darker material and danger, but at the end of the day, you KNOW they'll never kill off their central characters, no matter how bad the situation is, because those are the people the show revolves around. Those shows aren't BAD for doing that, obviously, but it does create a certain amount of predictability over time >.> I think it was smart of the people working on Game Of Thrones to make it clear that when characters are in danger, they are in DANGER. It makes you pay that much more attention to a character you like, because in all likelihood, something WILL happen to them, so enjoy them while you have them, you know? XD

I agree with everything you said! I've had the same exact thoughts throughout the show, and especially after the rape debate. And yes, Ramsay is a freakin' psycopath, a murderous one, so yeah... Whatever had to happen, it happened! And some of the critics say that "oh, well Sansa isn't supposed to be there in the story according to the book". That's true, but in the show she took over the role of someone else in the book, and that girl DID get raped (and worse), and it shouldn't really matter if it's Sansa or her friend (in the books) - I think anyway. :) The show isn't going to be 100 % the same.

I know! People are getting SO upset that the show is no longer following the books as closely as it used to, but it's like, be REASONABLE! The Winds Of Winter STILL isn't finished, and it's not even the last book! What is everyone at the show supposed to do, sit on their hands until it's finally released, then pick back up where they left off? That's ridiculous! Don't get me wrong, I like the book series [but I LOVE the show!], but honestly, the show needs to build enough legs to be able to stand and carry it through until the end; people don't seem to realize that the show would go down in FLAMES if they just tried to follow the path of the books now!

And to be honest, I'm actually glad that they strayed from the path of the books. As much as I enjoyed learning more about the characters by reading the story the show derived from, [I saw the show before I read the books], I found them difficult to get through, Feast Of Crows especially, because George R. R. Martin's writing style tends to introduce characters and settings, without really explaining who and what they are, and just expecting you to follow along! Not to mention being sort of long-winded. The chapter that introduced Dorne and Princess Martell had me like... Who IS this? Because he doesn't tell you who she is at first, or even where you are, really! It's very vague, and very confusing o.o And I didn't even finish it, or make it to A Dance With Dragons because of it! So yeah, I'm glad that the show decided to twist the plot to re-introduce characters you've already seen instead of just introducing a whole new character set. Made things much easier to understand.

And also, I think fans of the book seem to forget how closely the show works with George R. R. Martin; whatever they decide to do in the show, I'll bet that it's all moving towards the same end as the books, so I don't understand why people care so much HOW we get there o.o

Although, I'll cry if Tyrion, Jon [I don't think he's dead.. yet], Sansa, or Dany die! Or even Missandei, 'cause I've grown to like her ^^

Hellooo! Sorry for the late reply, but your comment is a little bit long (in a good way!), so I wanted to have the time to give it a proper response^^
Yes, of course the show had to stray from the books! And the books aren't perfect, so I'm glad for that as well! And they had too many characters after awhile, so they had to combine some of them (or leave them out), and unfortunately (for Sansa) that lead to her being married to Ramsay and everything that goes with it. But the fact remains that there was still another girl in the books that suffered the same fate (actually, even worse) than Sansa in the show, and isn't it even better that they get the audience to feel strongly about it by using a well cared for character? I think so anyway.

But of course, I am not saying that the show does EVERYTHING right. But I mainly enjoy everything they create, and try to just sit back and enjoy the show instead of expecting everything to be as it was in my head while reading the books. :)

And yeah, I will be SO sad if any of the ones you mentioned die! Unfortunately, I think it will eventually happen one way or another for some of them :( Who, I don't know. Maybe Daenerys. But I'm certain that Jon Snow is not dead :D

No problem! [I have a bit of a run-on problem anyway ^^"]

I feel that way, too! In fact, I think Sansa is the better choice, because while we all felt bad for Jeyne Poole in the books, we didn't really know too much about her until she was back at Winterfell; Sansa we've [most of us, I think] been rooting for ever since we saw exactly what Joffrey was in episode 2, so it just makes it that much more tragic.

Me, too <3 I just try to enjoy the show as much as possible, and turn my head when gory scenes come on ^^ [I have an issue with gore; I still haven't watched the Mountain kill Oberyn yet - I always close my eyes right beforehand >.<]

I can't wait for the new season to start airing, though! I want to see how things at Winterfell and Meereen! [going through GOT withdrawal Favourite TV Show ]

Like, we don't know ANYTHING that's going to happen (except from a little bit more of Bran's story perhaps)! I can't even think about it because I would get to excited and it seems so far away, haha xD But yeah, like just thinking about it makes me all Squee! Hamtaro Mouse Emoji-02 (Kawaii) [V1]

Oh Gosh, I love this! The way you portrayed her, shows everything about her - that she was once a little, naive girl, and then, along with the passing time and a lot of suffer, she changed into an unbreakable, strong and manipulative young woman, who just acts as she was weak to achieve what she wants.
Beautiful!
